Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen’s first battery-swappable EV comes off line

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. ("DPCA") saw its first battery-swappable electric vehicle model, the Fukang ES600, officially roll off the production line on November 18.

The Fukang ES600, jointly developed by DPCA and Chinese battery giant CATL, is aimed at offering quality vehicle for mobility business providers. The model adopts swappable power battery packs from CATL. According to DPCA, the Fukang ES600 battery-swappable version is expected to go on sale this month.

Powered by CATL’s newly launched ternary lithium Choco-SEB (swapping electric block), the Fukang ES600 is eligible for CATL’s EVOGO battery swap service. The volume of each single Choco-SEB is 26.5kWh, which enables the Fukang ES600 a battery-electric range of 410km.  

Through the EVOGO service network, Fukang ES600 users are able to find the nearest battery swap station, and enjoy the 24-hour battery swap service that can be completed a battery swap in just 3 minutes at a low cost.

Up to now, CATL has deployed its EVOGO battery swapping service in ten Chinese cities including Hefei, Xiamen, Guiyang, and Chengdu. The battery giant plans to broaden its service network to over 200 cities domestically by 2025.
