The project, named “Nansha Qingpao (translating into Hydrogen Run)”, marks the first trial in China to put hydrogen-powered passenger vehicles into public mobility services on a large scale. Under the project, both parties will explore the popularization of FCVs, so as to accelerate the green development process of cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Under the project, GAC Toyota will use 65 second-generation MIRAI fuel-cell sedans to provide a variety of public transportation services in Nansha District, such as offering short-term rental car services at prices comparable to those of gasoline vehicles, introducing MIRAIs to ride-hailing platforms, and establishing FCV-dedicated cruising lines at key transportation hubs, scenic spots, shopping malls, and governmental business centers.

In 2022, GAC Toyota saw its annual vehicle output and sales both exceed 1 million units for the first time, over 30% of which were electrified vehicles.
