BYD’s Yangwang U8 included in MIIT’s catalogue
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The Yangwang U8, the first production model under BYD's nascent luxury auto brand Yangwang, has been included into a catalogue issued by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT") with some key parameters unveiled at the same time.

According to the MIIT’s information, the Yangwang U8 measures 5,319mm long, 2,050mm wide, and 1,930mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,050mm. It is positioned as a mid-to-large-size SUV with a curb weight of 3,460kg and a maximum towing weight of 2,500kg, which is higher than many large-sized SUVs.

The off-roader SUV is equipped with four electric motors, which are good for 200-240kW and 320-420 N·m per motor. It also carries a plug-in hybrid electric system containing a poweful 2.0T internal combustion engine.
The Yangwang U8 offers two options for interior seating layout: seven seats or five seats. It comes with two tire specifications, namely, 275/60 R20 and 275/50 R22. Such facilities or features as a small skylight, a rear spoiler, side steps, and wheel styles can be chosen based on buyers’ demands.
The U8 went on presale on April 18 with two variants – Premium Edition and Off-road Master Edition. It features a presale price of 1,098,000 yuan.
The U8 new energy off-roader rides on BYD’s two major proprietary technologies, the e4 Platform and the NEV-dedicated DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic pressure vehicle body control system. The U8 churns out a maximum power of 1,100 HP and can zip from 0-100km/h in 3.6s. Installed with BYD’s Blade battery, the model features a CLTC-rated range of 1,000km.
