Dongfeng Motor unveils Venucia-branded fuel cell passenger car’s engineering prototype

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Dongfeng Motor Corporation, a leading Chinese automobile manufacturer, announced a few days ago via its WeChat account that the engineering prototype of its Venucia hydrogen fuel cell passenger car made its debut. The automaker plans to deliver 10 mass-produced units of this vehicle for demonstration operation by the end of 2023.

Dongfeng Motor has introduced several technology brands in the field of hydrogen energy, namely, “Dongfeng Qingzhou” fuel cell vehicle and power platform, “Dongfeng Qingyuan” fuel cell system, and “Qingxin” fuel cell stack. Besides, it has established advanced electrochemical labs and fuel cell development capabilities. Furthermore, the automaker have independently developed medium- and high-power hydrogen fuel cell systems, continually investing in key resources such as bipolar plates, membrane electrode assemblies, and hydrogen storage cylinders.

The Venucia hydrogen fuel cell passenger car project is the first collaborative endeavor involving Guangzhou Huadu City Construction Investment Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Technology Center, Dongfeng Motor Company Limited, and LAN-YOU Mobility. The project spans several aspects including vehicle development and manufacturing, hydrogenation, hydrogen usage, after-sales support, and demonstration operation. It has the distinction of being the first to achieve demonstration operation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Huadu District, Guangzhou city.
