China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region aims to deploy over 1,500 fuel cell vehicles by 2025

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The Development and Reform Commission of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently issued the "Three-Year Action Plan for Hydrogen Industry Development (2023-2025)." The plan aims to accelerate Xinjiang's integration into the domestic and international hydrogen energy layout, propelling the comprehensive development of the hydrogen energy industry chain in the region.

This "Action Plan" outlines key initiatives for the years ahead. By 2023, the plan envisions the construction of 2-3 hydrogen energy industry demonstration zones, surpassing an annual renewable hydrogen production output of 20,000 tonnes and deploying over 50 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. By 2025, the focus will shift towards establishing an integrated supply chain and industrial system encompassing green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling, and application. The goal is to establish a number of hydrogen energy industry demonstration zones, achieving an annual renewable hydrogen production capacity of 100,000 tonnes and promoting over 1,500 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The plan sets forth four pivotal tasks: systematically advancing hydrogen energy infrastructure construction, promoting diverse applications of hydrogen energy, actively developing the hydrogen energy equipment manufacturing industry, and establishing an innovation system for high-quality hydrogen industry development. Furthermore, the plan outlines six safeguard measures aimed at strengthening coordination, establishing sound institutional frameworks, securing essential resources, nurturing innovative talents, enhancing financial support, and bolstering safety risk management.
