Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese companies NASCO and Wuxi Paragonage New Energy Co., Ltd. ("Paragonage") recently inked a strategic cooperation agreement, according to Paragonage's press release. This collaboration sets the stage for a profound partnership, focusing on the development and industrialization of sodium-ion batteries and crucial materials, aligning with market-driven objectives.

According to the terms of the agreement, both entities will leverage their respective strengths, aiming to collaboratively advance the R&D of sodium-ion battery technology. The strategic cooperation spans over the next three years, with a well-defined goal of not less than 3,000 tonnes in the supply and sales plan.

Paragonage stands out as one of the earliest domestic enterprises in China engaged in the R&D of key technologies for sodium-ion batteries. It earned distinction as one of the first companies to pass the sodium-ion battery evaluation conducted by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In June 2023, Paragonage further solidified its position in the industry by signing an agreement to establish its presence in Wuxi's Xishan District. This move is a strategic endeavor aimed at creating the R&D headquarters and manufacturing base for sodium-ion batteries.

Established in Wuxi in 2022, NASCO has been dedicated to the R&D and industrialization of high-performance sodium-ion battery cathode materials. Emphasizing in-house R&D, NASCO collaborates seamlessly with partners across the industry chain to address key technological challenges hindering the industrialization of sodium-ion battery materials.

By tackling challenges such as high-temperature oxygen evolution and prolonged cycling under high oxygen voltage, as well as low-capacity issues under low oxygen voltage and inadequate low-temperature solid-phase synthesis of sodium iron sulfate, NASCO has resolved key technical obstacles. This effort has resulted in a series of core technologies with complete proprietary intellectual property rights.
