Great Wall Motor scores 69.06% YoY leap in Jan. 2024 auto sales
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In January, Great Wall Motor ("GWM") reported robust sales performance, with a total of 104,030 new vehicles sold, marking a remarkable year-on-year increase of 69.06%.
A significant contributor to this success was the surge in sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs), including new energy commercial vehicles, reaching 25,030 units—a staggering year-on-year surge of 295.48%. This highlights the growing consumer preference for eco-friendly transportation options.
Notably, its overseas sales also experienced a substantial increase, totaling 26,374 units last month and registering a year-on-year spike of 64.86%. This expansion into international markets underscores Great Wall Motor's global competitiveness and appeal.

GWM said its sales of models priced above 200,000 yuan reached 24,497 units in January, constituting 23.55% of the total and marking a notable year-on-year increase of 9.72 percentage points. This shift towards higher-end models suggests a positive trend in consumer preferences for upscale vehicles within the Great Wall Motor portfolio.
HAVAL, a key SUV brand under GWM, reported a solid performance in January, selling 59,103 new vehicles—an impressive year-on-year hike of 50.8%. Notably, HAVAL's NEV sales soared by 276.25% from a year earlier to 6,005 units.
WEY, another brand in GWM's lineup, experienced a substantial year-on-year sales soar of 217.33%, selling 3,351 new vehicles in January. The successful integration of advanced features, such as the completion of OTA upgrades for models like the Blue Mountain and the High Mountain, demonstrates the brand's focus on cutting-edge technology and user experience.
The TANK brand also achieved remarkable sales growth in January, with a total of 20,067 new vehicles sold—a substantial year-on-year spike of 239.26%. Notably, TANK's NEV models saw a sales surge of 16.67% month-on-month, reaching 9,631 units and setting a new monthly record for new energy vehicle sales.
The NEV-dedicated ORA brand sold 6,001 vehicles in January, reflecting a 63.25% jump over a year earlier.
Moreover, Great Wall Pick-up boasted a 32.41% year-on-year growth in its January sales, which stood at 15,466 units.
