BYD scores 46.06% YoY hike in Mar. 2024 sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited ("BYD") announced that its monthly sales reached 302,459 vehicles in March 2024, surging 46.06% from the previous year and rocketing 147.29% from the previous month.

Of the vehicles sold last month, passenger vehicles accounted for 301,631 units of sales, representing a 46.36% spike year-over-year. To be specific, the sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) stood at 139,902 units, leaping 36.26% over a year earlier, while the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) unit posted a monthly sales volume of 161,729 units, which zoomed up 56.38% from a year earlier.

In the same time span, BYD sold 828 commercial vehicles (-16.45% YoY), including 269 buses (-22.92% YoY).

BYD also reported an export volume of 38,434 passenger vehicles for the month of March, displaying a robust spike of 65% month-on-month.

Breaking down the March sales by specific series and brands, BYD's Dynasty and Ocean series sold 286,712 vehicles (+151.4% MoM) in total, and the sales of DENZA, YANGWANG, and FANGCHENGBAO brands reached 10,279 units (+123.6%MoM), 1,090 units (+39.7% MoM), and 3,550 units (53.7% MoM), respectively.

For the first three months of 2024, BYD recorded a cumulative sales volume of 626,263 vehicles, up 13.44% over a year ago.

In the passenger vehicle sector, BEVs and PHEVs contributed to an YTD sales volume of 300,114 units and 324,284 units, respectively, both logging a year-on-year growth of over 13%.
