Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 6, Liu Tao, co-CEO of IM Motors, the premium electric vehicle brand co-backed SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, announced via his Sina Weibo account that the brand's first-generation solid-state battery to be equipped in the IM L6 model has been officially named "Light Year"("Guangnian" in Chinese Pinyin).

According to Liu Tao, although the Light Year solid-state battery is the first-generation product, it manages to increase energy capacity by 30% over traditional liquid-state batteries while maintaining nearly the same weight. He further emphasized that this battery could easily achieve a range of 1,000 kilometers, highlighting the potential value of solid-state batteries as a replacement for liquid-state batteries.
Previously, Liu Tao had revealed that the IM L6 model would feature the first mass-produced ultra-fast charging solid-state battery technology, based on a quasi-900V high-performance platform, expected to achieve a range of over 1,000 kilometers. The launch of this innovative technology aims to completely address the range anxiety issues faced by electric vehicle users.
Currently, IM Motors is dedicated to advancing the development of solid-state battery technology, aiming to secure a favorable position in the electric vehicle market.
