Li Auto, Ianlong Technology inaugurate join lab for innovation in NEV lightweight tech

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker Li Auto and automotive supplier Ianlon Technology recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Changzhou, announcing the establishment of a joint innovation lab, according to a press release Li Auto issued on Feb. 12.  

The fresh partnership aims to drive innovation in and application of ultra-high-strength steel, lightweight alloys, and advanced composite materials in automotive manufacturing. The two companies will also collaborate on mold design and component manufacturing process innovations.

Mr. Meng Qingpeng, Vice President of Supply Chain at Li Auto, stated, "The collaboration between Li Auto and Ianlon Technology is not only a synergy of strengths but also a deep integration of vision and practice. With the establishment of the Joint Innovation Lab, both parties will continue to innovate in lightweight materials, structural design, and manufacturing processes, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of new energy vehicles."

Following the signing and unveiling ceremony, the two companies held their first co-creation meeting, where their R&D teams engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics such as lightweight technology, development cycles, safety performance enhancements, and cost reduction. Through case studies, technical exchanges, and joint solution development, they further clarified the breakthrough directions and implementation pathways for lightweight technologies.

Moving forward, the joint innovation lab will accelerate technology adoption, supporting the structural evolution of lightweight NEVs and delivering more competitive mass-production solutions for Li Auto.

Founded in 2009, Ianlon Technology has been dedicated to the design, production, and sales of automotive body molds, hot-stamping components, welded assemblies, and integrated die-casting solutions. The company's product portfolio includes molds for doors, hoods, fenders, and side panels, as well as integrated A/B pillars, door rings, front and rear bumper beams, and shock towers.
