CATL, CECEP team up on R&D of new energy materials, energy storage tech

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 25, China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group ("CECEP") and CATL signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde city, Fujian province, aiming to drive high-quality growth in the energy storage sector, according to a post on CATL's WeChat account.

The two companies will leverage their respective strengths in industry expertise, technology, capital, global reach, and brand reputation to deepen collaboration across multiple areas, including new energy materials, energy storage technology innovation, equipment procurement, and project development.

CECEP, a Chinese state-owned enterprise specializing in energy conservation, clean energy supply, ecological protection, and resource recycling, operates over 700 subsidiaries and six publicly listed companies. Its business spans across numerous provinces and cities in China, and approximately 110 countries and regions worldwide, making it a leading player in the country's environmental protection sector.

CATL, a global leader in new energy innovation, provides world-class solutions for renewable energy applications. The company has held the top position in global energy storage battery shipments for four consecutive years.

Just a week earlier, on February 20, CATL also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Liaoning Fangda Group Industrial Co., Ltd. The two parties plan to build a high-level zero-carbon industrial cluster by integrating their industry expertise and technological advantages.

With CATL's zero-carbon technology at its core, the collaboration will focus on photovoltaic and energy storage applications, electrification of industrial transport in the steel and carbon sectors, electric construction machinery, electric ship transportation, green aviation, low-altitude economy, zero-carbon industrial parks, zero-carbon investment funds, and ESG-driven sustainable development, aiming to establish a comprehensive zero-carbon energy supply ecosystem.
