FAW-Volkswagen rolls off 4.3 millionth Sagitar vehicle

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 9, FAW-Volkswagen marked a significant production milestone as the 4.3 millionth Sagitar vehicle rolled off the assembly line at its Chengdu plant. This achievement also signaled the official debut of the all-new Sagitar L, a next-generation model designed to meet the evolving demands of a more digital and youthful market.

Sporting a newly designed fastback silhouette, the new-generation Sagitar L combines a sleek, contemporary profile with a bold front fascia and a wide, balanced rear. Measuring 4,812 mm in length with a 2,731 mm wheelbase, the model offers a refined and spacious presence. Design highlights include a full-width light bar, illuminated Volkswagen logo, flush-mounted mechanical door handles, and projection mirrors—underscoring the car's dynamic, youthful character.

Inside, the cabin blends modern digital interfaces with upscale materials to create a refined and immersive space. The cockpit features a three-screen layout comprising a 15-inch 2K floating central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel, and a W-HUD head-up display. Additional touches such as a column-mounted electronic shifter, 30-color ambient lighting, diamond-pattern sport seats, and soft-touch surfaces enhance both visual appeal and tactile comfort. A reconfigured interior layout offers more storage space, while prioritizing both convenience and ride comfort.

On the tech front, the vehicle's infotainment system receives a major upgrade with the Qualcomm 8155 chip and a hybrid Linux + Android architecture for faster performance and smoother operation. The new voice assistant integrates iFlytek's hybrid cloud-edge AI engine, enabling accurate recognition and natural interaction in Mandarin, Sichuanese, and Cantonese, with over 95% accuracy. Response times have improved by 30% over the previous generation, with voice commands processed in as little as 1.5 seconds offline and 2 seconds online. The system also incorporates FAW-Volkswagen's proprietary AI large language model, enhanced with Deepseek cloud integration, offering more precise semantic comprehension and intelligent responses.

Expanding connectivity options, the new Sagitar L now supports Huawei's HiCar platform in addition to CarPlay and CarLife. This enables full ecosystem integration of Huawei's voice assistant, navigation, calls, and entertainment apps directly into the car interface. Combined with 5G telematics and an expanded app ecosystem, the vehicle delivers a seamless smart cockpit experience.
