Gasgoo released a list of the Top Ten foreign automakers based on their sales in China in the first quarter of 2016. GM beat VW by reaping the largest sales. Ford won all Japanese automakers. Only Hyundai Kia and Peugeot Citroen suffered yearly decline among these ten automakers.

That said, sedan sales still account for a majority of all passenger automobile sales made in the country. According to statistics compiled by Gasgoo.com (Chinese), 58.0% of all passenger automobile sales were of sedans. The midsize sedan segment remains one of the key segments in the sedan market, accounting for 18.7% of all sedan sales completed over the course of the year, and is one of the strongest areas of competitions between various brands. Midsize sedan sales in 2015 totaled 2.19 million units, down 1.2% year-on-year.
Feb. 23 , 2016Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - A total of 1.88 million passenger automobiles were sold in China in the month of October, 15.4% more than the 1.63 million sold the previous October. Growth was shared by both domestic own brand manufacturers and foreign-Sino joint venture enterprises. Sales of own brand passenger automobiles increased 27.1%. Passenger automobile sales of American and Japanese passenger automobiles increased 14.9% and 9.1%, while those of German and Korean automobiles growing 8.0% and 4.7%.
