Summary: China’s SUV market in October

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - Following the implementation of new tax policies, Chinese passenger automobile sales have achieved notable year-on-year sales growth of 15.4% in October. This growth is in large part due to the performance of the SUV segment, which grew over 60%. According to Gasgoo.com (Chinese) statistics, 631,295 SUVs were sold in the month of October, up 63.2% from the previous year. Over 4.79 million SUVs have been sold in the country from January to October, representing year-on-year growth of 50.4%. By comparison, minivan sales only grew 7% over the same time period, while sedan sales actually fell 0.4%.

Summary: Foreign-brand SUV sales in September

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - A total of 579,979 SUVs were sold in China during the month of September, according to statistics compiled by Gasgoo.com (Chinese). That figure represents year-on-year growth of 62.8%. While both domestic own brand manufacturers and Sino-foreign joint venture enterprises achieve positive growth in terms of SUV sales, results did vary. While sales of own brand SUVs grew a fully 72.4% year-on-year, those of foreign brand SUVs increased slightly less, growing 53.4% year-on-year. A total of 275,185 foreign brand SUVs were sold in the country over the course of the month. Not only did growth rates fail to meet the market average, the proportion of SUV sales that were of foreign brand models fell to 47.4%, down 3 percentage points from last year.

Geely names a new SUV model as “Boyue” and accelerates new model production

Geely officially named its new NL-3 SUV model as “Boyue” on October 27th, and will make its debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show next month, which will be launched into market on the first quarter of next year.
