After launching SUV X-Trail three years ago in the Indian market, the Nissan Motor India Limited (NMIPL) has rolled out yet another fully imported luxury sedan, Teana, priced Rs 20.47 lakh (ex-showroom) here.

"Our sales target for Teana is 300 units and SUV X-Trail is 250 units this year" NMIPL Director Marketing Neeraj Garg told newspersons here last night.

He said the company plans to set up more dealerships in the country to increase sales and study the requirements of Indian customer.

"The main objective of introducing Nissan Teana in the market is to provide a choice amongst Nissan vehicles for the customers, provide a value for money in the luxury car segment in India and provide more profit for the dealers," he said.

He said "the new car powered by a 2.3 litre VQ23DE petrol engine with four speed automatic transmission had an innovative intelligent lock system that allows the owner to open and close the door locks and start the car without removing the key from their pocket or bag".

The company last month announced its intention to set up a manufacturing facility in Chennai with alliance partner Renault and Mahindra.

He said the NMIPL had plans to manufacture its automobile components from Chennai plant in future.
