This was the third-time collaboration between BMW and NavInfo. On August 22, 2019, NavInfo announced it had inked a CNS (Connected Navigation Service) agreement with the German auto giant.

In accordance with the deal, the mapping service provider would offer CNS-related services, involving dynamic traffic information, route planning and the calculation of an EV's remaining range, to BMW's vehicles to be sold in China from 2021 to 2025.

Additionally, both parties also struck a deal on HD (high-definition) map in July, 2019. The cooperation enabled NavInfo to provide BMW's China branch with HD map service for autonomous vehicles, marking a great step for the German automaker's path towards autonomous driving in China.
