Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Developed by EV manufacturer NIO, NIO Power is a charging solution that is powered by the mobile Internet. On March 27, Shen Fei, Vice President of Power Management at NIO, launched on behalf of the startup the newest service system of NIO Power, which is rechargeable, replaceable and upgradeable.

He said NIO is ready to roll out the version 2.0 of its home charging pile, and release in fourth quarter the 100kWh battery pack, which is able to increase the NEDC-rated range to 580km for the ES8 and to 610km for the ES6. The 20kW home fast charging pile is expected to be launched in this year's June.

The company will move faster on building new battery swapping stations with 50 to be newly set up in 2020. Mr. Shen added the effort will be initiated around next two weeks with the coronavirus epidemic being eradicated.

NIO plans to upgrade the battery swapping station into the version 2.0 this year, which targets better user experience and lower construction cost. For instance, the battery charging can be done with the driver staying indoors and a special area will be provided for users to take a break.

Supported by NIO cloud, NIO Power is a wide-ranging network of charging and battery swapping facilities, including fast charging pile, home charger, power station and mobile charging vehicle.

NIO also strengthens its power offensive by teaming up with its rivals. It struck a deal in last December with Xpeng Motors, a Guangzhou-based EV startup, to collaborate on battery charging services, optimizing the charging experience for customers.

According to the agreement, Xpeng's car owners would be able to use NIO Power's supercharging piles through the Xpeng App. NIO car owners can also use the Xpeng's supercharging piles across many 1st and 2nd-tier cities in China (photo source: NIO).
