Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Since Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, announced the start of research on fossil-fuel powered vehicles sales ban schedule on September 9th, the so-called “sales ban time” has been catching great attention.

Xiang Dongping, CMO of DEARCC, said on 2017 NEV intelligent Electric Drive forum that ban sales on oil-fueled vehicles is an irreversible trend. He said the government does not need to set a deadline for the traditional vehicles. When the battery technology becomes mature enough, consumers will choose more competitive vehicles and the market system will help NEV to surpass traditional ones.

He Xiaojing, Director of marketing department in SAIC Roewe, believes that ban sales on fossil-fuel powered vehicles should advance gradually in case that the fast development on NEV may cause resources wastes. Cao Ting, market vice president of Changan Mazda also claims that  Even though it has made progress in internal combustion engine technology, it won’t neglect the development of NEV technology. It would release relevant NEV products and improve traditional fossil-fuel powered vehicles’ efficiency in the future two or three years.

Yin Chengliang, vice dean of Automotive Engineering Institute in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, believe that governmental approval on NEV production license restricts industrial innovation and time schedule on ban sales should be discussed carefully and prudently. “Fossil-fuel powered vehicles may co-exist with electric vehicles in the future long time.” Auto analyst Yan Jinghui thought it is less likely to ban the sales of fossil-fuel powered in the coming ten years.
