FAW-VW first SUV model T-ROC officially hits market

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW-Volkswagen (FAW-VW)'s first SUV model the T-ROC (“Tange” in Chinese) officially hit the market on July 30. The new model provides different versions with prices ranging from RMB 130,000 to RMB 210,000, so as to cater for consumers with different cost acceptance. 

At the launch event, the automaker announced that it will roll out 5 SUV models (including the T-ROC) over the next three years, namely, a small-sized SUV, a compact SUV, two advanced mid-size SUV models as well as a full-size SUV.

Positioned as a compact SUV model, the locally-produced T-ROC measures 4,318mm in length, 1,819mm in width and 1,582mm in height, which is 84mm longer and 9mm higher than that of the overseas existing model. In addition, the wheelbase of the China-made T-ROC is 77mm longer than that of the outgoing model ready for sale abroad.

Inside, the locally-produced T-ROC boasts various amenities, such as the keyless entry system, front & rear radar sensors, steering wheel heater, 8-cun console panel, automatic start system, automatic parking system as well as electrical park brake. Besides, the advanced version is particularly equipped with a 10.3-cun liquid crystal display.

The newly-launched SUV model provides three powertrain options. The 1.2T engine can produce a maximum power of 116hp, while the lower power and higher power versions of the 1.4T engine are able to deliver power as high as 131hp and 150hp respectively. Moreover, the powertrains are mated with the 5-speed manual transmission, the DQ200 7-speed dry dual clutch transmission (for two wheel-drive version) and the DQ381 7-speed wet dual clutch transmission (for four wheel-drive version).
