Schaeffler first China CVT chain production line settles in Suzhou

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Global automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler saw its first China-based continuously variable transmission (CVT) chain program settle in Suzhou, Jiangsu province on September 16 at the 20th anniversary of Schaeffler Friction Products (Suzhou) Co.,Ltd (hereinafter referred to as Schaeffler Suzhou).

The new Suzhou-based program will build Schaeffler's first CVT chain production line in the Greater China region and Asian market in a bid to substantially enhance the business capability and production capacity for Schaeffler Suzhou. The program construction is divided into two phases. Once the production line is finished, it will be able to output 675,000 CVT chains on an annual basis and generate gross sales over RMB 600 million. 

The CVT chain program embodies the German company's most modern technologies and development idea. Using fully automatic high-speed optical measuring and screening equipment, the production line could measure and screen up to 120,000 units of auto parts per hour. Besides, the program will be outfitted with highly integrated automation assembly lines and high-precision optical inspecting and fail-safe facilities. The logistics distance between China and Germany will be largely shortened after the program is completed.

As one of 8 bases built by Schaeffler Greater China, Schaffler Suzhou works on producing and selling automotive clutch friction plates and other products. Headquartered in Shanghai, Schaeffler Greater China has by far set up 8 plants in Taicang, Suzhou, Yinchuan and Najing and operate a R&D center in Anting Town, Jiading District of Shanghai, hiring around 13,000 employees in total.
