China wishes to consummate intelligent vehicle system with Chinese standard by 2050

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China is ambitious to complete the building of intelligent vehicle system with China national standard between 2035 and 2050, a part of strategic visions mentioned in the Strategies for Innovative Development of Intelligent Vehicles (the Strategies), a document issued by China's authorities earlier this month.

According to the Strategies, the intelligent vehicle-related systems with Chinese standard, involving technology innovation, industrial ecosystem, infrastructure, regulations & standards, product supervision and cybersecurity, will take shape by 2025. At that time, the scale production of intelligent vehicles that can achieve autonomous driving features in certain conditions will be realized and the highly automated vehicles will be put into commercial use in specific scenarios.

Besides, significant progress will be made in the construction of intelligent transportation system and the infrastructures for smart city. The LTE-V2X-based network will support the communications in part of regions and the 5G-V2X network will be gradually formed in some cities and expressways. The nationwide coverage of high-precision spatio-temporal reference frame will be accomplished then.

The Strategies is the fruit of joint efforts made by 11 governmental departments, such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Cyberspace Administration.

The document points out that the intelligent vehicle has become a strategic direction the global auto industry steps toward. Technically, the vehicle is under the transformation from being a simple mechanical product manipulated by human drivers to becoming a smart goods controlled by electronics & information system. Many global companies have led the industry in deployment intelligent vehicle business. The governments of some countries are proactively creating sound environment of its development as they have already regarded intelligent vehicle as a must-do strategy to become a powerful automotive country.
