Sales of Citroen DS4 and DS5 in China officially begin

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 1) - The Citroën DS range finally came to Chinese markets last Thursday, with both the DS4 and DS5 making their official debuts, the Nanfang Daily reported earlier this week.

The DS5 (pictured above) is a new luxury executive compact that made its European debut late last year. The car is the third model in the DS line, and proudly carries the brand's insignia throughout its interior. It is powered by a low-emission turbocharged THP160 engine, and comes with keyless entry, a multi-colored information display and several other features. Prices for the DS5 start at 298,800 yuan ($47,523).

Meanwhile, the DS4 (pictured below) is a premium hatchback that was voted the Most Beautiful Car of the Year at the 2011 International Automobile Festival. It is also powered by a THP series engine, which is mated to a six-speed transmission. The DS4 was originally the second DS model. Chinese prices begin at 242,800 yuan ($38,616).

The DS3 will come to China by the end of August, completing the product line.

In other news, Changan PSA recently opened its first DS Store in China, marking the official establishment of an independent sales network for DS models in the country. The DS Stores are based on similar outlets in Citroën's home country of France. There will be 24 stores operating in the country by the end of the year, located in several top tier cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Chengdu.
