Chinese-made to Peugeot 3008 to be different from import version
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 9) - Dongfeng Peugeot will release two models, the new Peugeot 3008 and new 408, in China before the end of the year, International Finance News reported today. Among them, the joint venture has made an importance announcement regarding the 3008. According to representatives from the JV, the new 3008, which will be the first Peugeot to be made in China, will be an urban SUV model, different from the imported 3008, which is a crossover.
"The 3008 to be released later this year will be known as the New 3008," a Dongfeng Peugeot representative stated. The upcoming SUV will have slightly different measurements and sport different accessories than the imported 3008 crossover (pictured). Although specifics have yet to be released, the new SUV will carry a much lower than the price tag imported 3008. There is a strong possibility the two models will be sold simultaneously.
Dongfeng Peugeot brought over the 3008 to China in 2010. However, due in part to its high price tag, the crossover's sales failed to meet expectations. Given the increasingly popularity of SUVs in China, it is natural for the manufacturer to try its hand once more with the new 3008.
