Chery Auto to use CVT 25 in 6 models, equivalent to 9-speed AMT

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chen Anning, general manager of Chery Auto, revealed that the automaker is developing several models which will be fitted with the CVT25 transmission developed by Zhejiang Wanliyang Co., Ltd (WLY), a Chinese transmission manufacturer. Including the Arrizo GX, a total of 6 models of Chery Auto will be equipped with WLY's newly-unveiled CVT 25 transmission, local media reported.

Currently, Chery Auto has 6 models in total that carry CVT (continuously variable transmission), including the Arrizo 5, Tiggo 3, Tiggo 7, Arrizo 7 as well as the upcoming Arrizo GX and the revamped Tiggo 5. It can be expected that the CVT 25 transmission will be used in more Chery Auto's models with the updating and upgrading of the Arrizo and Tiggo series.

On June 15, WLY's CVT 25 transmission formally rolled off the production line in Wuhu, Anhui province. Reportedly, the new transmission, which is available for various models, can work as a 9-speed automatic transmission. It supports electronic gear change and can strengthen start-stop and other functions. The CVT 25 can deliver a maximum torque of 250N.m. Compared with conventional CVTs, it not only boasts wider speed ratio, but also features more intelligent configurations with higher working efficiency. In addition, it can be mounted in hybrid models, so as to be in tune with more and more strict emission and fuel consumption regulations in future.
