CATL accounts for 50.8% of China's Jan.-Sept. power battery installed capacity
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In September, China's power battery outputs reached 23.2GWh, surging 168.9% year on year, while also growing 18.9% month on month, according to China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (CAPBIIA).

For the first nine months of 2021, there were 134.7GWh of power batteries produced in this country, representing a 195% year on year surge.
The CAPBIIA's data showed that China's Jan.-Sept. power battery sales soared 176.9% from a year ago to 106.8GWh, including 49.3GWh ternary-lithium batteries (+135.8% YoY) and 56.7GWh lithium phosphate batteries (+225% YoY).
For the month of September, the country's power battery sales amounted to 17.8GWh, shooting up 155.8% over the year-ago period.
China's power battery installed capacity in September stood at 15.7GWh, leaping 138.6% year on year and rising 25% month on month, according to the alliance.
In terms of Sept. installed capacity, the No.1 power battery manufacturer in China was CATL, which accounted for 56.5% of the country's total capacity. BYD was honored the runner-up with an installed capacity of 2.79GWh.
For the first three quarters, China saw the total power battery installed capacity rocket 169.1% year over year to 92GWh. To be specific, the capacity of ternary-lithium batteries and lithium phosphate batteries reached 47.1GWh and 44.8GWh respectively.
CATL and BYD still occupied the first two places among power battery makers in China by Jan.-Sept. installed capacity. CALB, LG Energy Solution, and Gotion High-Tech ranked third to fifth by year-to-date capacity. Notably, the No.4 battery maker LG Energy Solution failed to enter the top 10 list in September.
