According to data compiled by Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, BYD's overseas passenger vehicle exports (Jan.-Aug. 2025) remain at a high level, with the top 10 destination markets collectively exceeding 440,000 units. The exports cover key regions including South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, reflecting a diversified global presence. South America continues to serve as the primary growth driver, Europe remains stable, while Southeast Asia and the Middle East maintain strong upward momentum—indicating a further optimization of BYD's overall export structure.

Here are the top 10 destination countries by BYD passenger vehicle exports from January to August, with detailed data:

Brazil: 32,600 battery electric passenger vehicles and 52,834 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 85,434 units.

Belgium: 42,391 battery electric passenger vehicles and 36,951 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 79,342 units.

Mexico: 31,379 battery electric passenger vehicles and 45,316 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 76,695 units.

UK: 24,734 battery electric passenger vehicles and 21,635 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 46,369 units.

Indonesia: 32,717 battery electric passenger vehicles.

Australia: 23,926 battery electric passenger vehicles and 8,566 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 32,492 units.

Turkey: 13,166 battery electric passenger vehicles and 16,951 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 30,117 units.

Spain: 13,010 battery electric passenger vehicles and 10,560 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 23,570 units.

UAE: 6,399 battery electric passenger vehicles and 14,044 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, totaling 20,443 units.

Strong performance across global markets丨Top 10 destinations by BYD's passenger vehicle shipments (Jan.-Aug. 2025)

From January to August, South America remained BYD's largest export region. Brazil ranked first with 85,434 units exported — 32,600 battery electric passenger vehicles (BEVs) and 52,834 plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles (PHEVs). Although August exports picked up slightly to 4,398 units, the pace was still tempered by higher local import tariffs. Mexico came next with 76,695 units (31,379 BEVs and 45,316 PHEVs), emerging as another anchor market in the region.

In Europe, Belgium, the UK, and Spain remained major destinations. Belgium ranked second globally with 79,342 units, serving as a key entry point for Chinese NEVs into Europe. The UK maintained steady growth with 46,369 units, driven by policy support and rising EV adoption.

Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia (32,717 units) and the Philippines (16,369 units) also stood out, reflecting strong underlying demand. Indonesia's market was dominated by BEVs, aligning with its national push toward electrification, while plug-in hybrids were more popular in the Philippines due to local driving conditions, fuel prices, and consumer preferences. Together, these trends point to significant long-term growth potential in the region.

In the Middle East, the UAE continued its upward trajectory, climbing from 10th to 9th place with 7,401 units exported in August alone. The country is emerging as a new pillar of BYD's global expansion, supported by the UAE's Energy Strategy 2050 and ongoing investments in charging and refueling infrastructure.

From a powertrain perspective, demand varies sharply across regions: Europe shows a balanced mix of BEVs and PHEVs, Indonesia favors full electric models, while Turkey, the UAE, and the Philippines lean toward plug-in hybrids. As BYD strengthens its localized production, service, and charging ecosystem overseas, this diversified market pattern is expected to deepen—laying a solid foundation for sustained export growth.
