Peugeot 4008 makes Chinese market debut

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 23) - The imported Peugeot 4008 hit the Chinese market earlier this week, auto.ifeng.com reported today. The SUV will be available in four different trim packages. Starting prices range from 219,800 yuan to 279,800 yuan ($34,960-$44,503) depending on trim level. The 4008 will also make an appearance at this month's Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.

The 4008 (pictured) is based on the Mitsubishi ASX and is the successor to the French manufacturer's 4007. Despite being the next model in the 4000 series line, the 4008 is even more compact than its predecessor, measuring 4.34 m long, 1.76 m wide and 1.6 m tall, with a wheelbase of 2.67 m.

Under the hood, the 4008 will be powered by either a 1.6 L engine with a maximum output of 115 hp and 150 Nm of torque, or a 2.0 L engine able to produce 150 hp and 198 Nm of torque. They will be mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The 4008's traditional all-wheel drive layout should be enough to satisfy most consumer demands, but other drive variants will also be available.
