Xiaomi EV launches updated YU7 SUV lineup with GT performance flagship

Gasgoo Munich- On May 21, Xiaomi EV launched updated versions of its all-electric YU7 midsize-to-large SUV lineup, introducing the refreshed YU7 standard model alongside the new high-performance YU7 GT.

The YU7 standard variant starts at 233,500 yuan, while the YU7 GT is priced from 389,900 yuan ($53,000). Xiaomi EV said the updated range focuses on improvements across styling, chassis tuning, electrified powertrain technology, and intelligent driving features, targeting both mainstream family users and performance-oriented buyers.

The YU7 series initially hit the market in June 2025. According to Xiaomi EV, the model secured more than 240,000 locked-in orders within 18 hours of launch, while cumulative deliveries had reached around 233,000 units as of May 2026.

With the latest refresh, Xiaomi EV is positioning the YU7 standard model squarely within China's highly competitive 200,000-300,000 yuan mainstream EV SUV segment, while the YU7 GT targets the premium high-performance SUV market.

The company said nationwide test drives have already begun at Xiaomi EV retail stores across China.

The standard YU7 retains its long-hood, low-slung SUV profile while adding new exterior colors including gold pink and pearl white. New wheel designs are also available, including body-color aerodynamic-style rims.

Inside the cabin, Xiaomi EV emphasized family-oriented comfort features, including environmentally friendly interior materials, a HEPA air filtration system, soft airflow climate control, and hidden rear storage compartments. Additional sound insulation and thermal protection measures have also been introduced to improve cabin refinement.

The YU7 GT adopts a more aggressive performance-focused design, featuring 295 mm rear tires, an integrated front splitter, and an active rear diffuser. Optional upgrades include a 24K gold carbon-fiber emblem, carbon-fiber mirror housings, and 21-inch dual-layer forged wheels.

The interior incorporates extensive soft-touch materials and 2.3 square meters of Alcantara trim. Buyers can choose from three interior themes: Track Red, Iris Purple, and Night Flame Black. The cabin also supports multi-screen interaction and dedicated GT-themed display interfaces.

Comfort features on the YU7 GT include an 18-way power-adjustable driver's seat with active side bolsters, while all four seats support ventilation, heating, and four-layer airbag massage functions.

The rear seats recline up to 132 degrees, and cargo capacity expands to 1,740 liters with the second row folded flat. Xiaomi EV also introduced new customized finishes including Samurai Black Matte, Titanium Matte, and Liquid Silver paint options, along with a Gentian Blue leather interior package.

All YU7 variants come standard with Xiaomi's “Jiaolong” chassis system, combining a double-wishbone front suspension with a five-link rear setup.

The system integrates dual-chamber air springs and continuously variable damping shock absorbers. The SUV has a minimum turning radius of 5.7 meters and offers multiple drive modes including Sport, Comfort, and Motion Sickness Relief settings.

The YU7 GT receives an upgraded performance chassis package featuring dual-valve CDC adaptive dampers, a 75 mm adjustable air suspension system, and an electronic limited-slip differential.

The braking system uses six-piston calipers paired with carbon-ceramic brake discs. Xiaomi EV claims a 100 km/h-to-zero braking distance of 32.9 meters.

According to Xiaomi EV's internal testing data, the YU7 GT equipped with its track-focused performance package recorded a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 7 minutes and 22.755 seconds.

The company said the result improved the previous SUV-category benchmark by 14 seconds. Xiaomi EV also disclosed that in comparative cornering evaluations against the, the YU7 GT achieved 32 wins, 17 losses, and one draw across test scenarios.

The YU7 standard model uses a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup producing 320 horsepower. Xiaomi EV claims 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h.

The SUV is equipped with a 73 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack and a 752 V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, delivering a CLTC-rated driving range of 643 km. Fast charging can reportedly add 405 km of range in 15 minutes.

The flagship YU7 GT adopts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system generating a combined 1,003 horsepower. Xiaomi EV said the vehicle can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.92 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h.

Power is supplied by a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery paired with an 897 V ultra-high-voltage architecture supporting 5.2C fast charging capability. The model carries a CLTC range rating of 705 km.

The front motor can also disconnect automatically under certain driving conditions, which Xiaomi EV claims can increase driving range by roughly 20 km.

Across the lineup, the YU7 series comes equipped with NVIDIA Thor chips, LiDAR sensors, 4D millimeter-wave radar, and Xiaomi EV's advanced driver-assistance system.

The platform supports highway navigation assist, urban navigation assist, automated parking, and remote voice-controlled parking functions. Xiaomi EV said all driver assistance features will remain permanently free of subscription fees.

The in-vehicle system also includes a large-format central display, an upgraded voice assistant, and AI-powered cabin interaction functions.
