While sales growth is not at the same level as 2014, it was still very high. While in 2014 sales growth rates of 40% to 50% were much easier to reach, last year’s automotive sales growth was a lot more subdued. According to statistics from Gasgoo.com (Chinese), minivan sales grew 11.2% from 1.72 million sales completed over the first 11 months of 2014 to 1.91 million sales completed over the first 11 months of 2015. Minivan sales accounted for 10.7% of all automobile sales made across the country in 2015, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous year.

A total of 1.17 million sedans were sold in the country over the course of the month. However that small recovery was not enough to change the overall downwards trend the Chinese sedan market has been facing as of late. A total of 10.43 million sedans were sold in the country from January to November, down 6.3% year-on-year.

The midsize SUV segment reflected those growth trends. A total of 816,843 midsize SUVs were sold in the country from January to November, up 48.0% year-on-year. Midsize SUVs account for 14.9% of all SUVs sold in the country over that time period, down 0.4 percentage points from a year ago. The midsize SUV segment still lags considerably behind the compact and small SUV segments in terms of total sales.

The figure is 5.8% higher than the 13.71 million passenger automobiles sold in the country from January to October of 2014.
Dec. 20 , 2015Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - Following the implementation of new tax policies, Chinese passenger automobile sales have achieved notable year-on-year sales growth of 15.4% in October. This growth is in large part due to the performance of the SUV segment, which grew over 60%. According to Gasgoo.com (Chinese) statistics, 631,295 SUVs were sold in the month of October, up 63.2% from the previous year. Over 4.79 million SUVs have been sold in the country from January to October, representing year-on-year growth of 50.4%. By comparison, minivan sales only grew 7% over the same time period, while sedan sales actually fell 0.4%.
