Mazda China sales up 33% to 17,795 in July
Shanghai August 9 (Gasgoo.com) Japanese automaker Mazda Motor Corp sold 17,795 vehicles in China in July, up 33% from a year earlier, creating its best-ever monthly sales record in the Chinese market, also its 22nd consecutive monthly growth, media reported recently.
In the period January to July, Mazda China reported sales of 124,372 units, up 35% year on year.

BYD sales fall 6%, fourth consecutive monthly drop
Shanghai August 9 (Gasgoo.com) BYD Auto (012111) said last Friday that it sold 33,046 vehicles in July, up 4% year on year, but down 6% month on month, which the company's representative said was because the market was in the off-season.
Influenced by the Chinese government's economic austerity measures, sales of BYD sedans dropped 6.5% m/m and grew 4% y/y to 33,046 units in July, compared with June's 35,356 units. The company's sales have been declining since April.
China continues to lead the world's auto market
Shanghai August 10 (Gasgoo.com) J.D.Power said last week at the annual gathering of automotive management that China's light vehicle sales are expected to reach 15.8 million units this year, accounting for a quarter of the global automotive market share. China will thus continue to consolidate its position as the world's largest auto consumer.
China's auto production reached about 1.23 million in July, up 12.88% year on year, but slightly down 4.34% month on month. China's auto sales in July climbed 17.18% from a year earlier to 1.05 million units, but declined 6.70% m/m.
Audi set to increase its market share in China
Shanghai August 10 (Gasgoo.com) German luxury carmaker Audi, owned by Volkswagen, said recently that its global sales rose 7.7% on the year in July to around 91,400 vehicles, spurred by strong demand in China and the U.S., of which Audi's China sales jumped 53% year on year to 20,537 vehicles, media reported Tuesday.
"We want to significantly increase (the) share of imported cars in China," Audi sales Chief Peter Schwarzenbauer said in a statement. "In July we more than tripled sales of our imported models in China compared with July 2009, to 3,696 units," he added.
China auto exports in July double to 46,500 vehicles
Shanghai, August 11 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese automakers exported 46,500 vehicles in July, up 107% from a year earlier, but down 10.33% from June, according to statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers(CAAM).
Exports of China's passenger vehicles in July reached 25,500 units, up 1.61% over the same month last year. While China's and commercial vehicles jumped 66.05% year on year to 21,000 units.
Luxury cars kick off fierce price war in China
Shanghai August 11 (Gasgoo.com) As demand in the world's largest auto market gets weaker from year-earlier levels in the second half of this year, luxury cars in China have kicked off a price war, and August sees a even bigger price cut, media reported Wednesday.
Reporters have recently learned from the Beijing auto market that many automakers have cut prices on the old models, and some imported models to make way for the newly launched cars, with thousands of yuan cut on one car and even more on imported vehicles.
Honda to import Insight, CRZ, Civic Hatchback to China
Shanghai August 12 (Gasgoo.com) Honda Motor Co recently revealed its plan, through various activities and channels, to start selling two hybrid models, the Insight and the CRZ in China in 2012, and to locally produce a "quantity model", media reported Thursday.
The so-called "quantity model" is likely to be Honda's Civic Hatchback, industry insider said.
All-electric Chevrolet New Sail to be launched in China soon
Shanghai August 12 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai GM, a joint venture in China between General Motors and SAIC Motor, will complete development of a prototype of the all-electric Chevrolet New Sail by the end of this year and launch the car to the domestic market in 2011, media reported today.
The joint venture will also put the Buick LaCrosse Hybrid into mass-production in China this year and put it into the market next year.
New Mazda 6 grabs 10.43% market share in China
Shanghai August 13 (Gasgoo.com) FAW-Mazda said recently that sales of its Mazda Rui Yi, known as the 2.0L Mazda 6, reached 12,705 vehicles in June this year, giving the joint venture a market share of 10.43% in the mid- and high-end car market in China.
Upon the launch of Mazda Rui Yi, the previous Mazda 6 has suddenly turned into an A-Class car, posting a strong growth in sales. In July, Mazda 6 and its 2.0L version Mazda Rui Yi sold 13,197 units in total, up nearly 70% from a year earlier.
Great Wall explores Southeast Asian market
Shanghai August 13 (Gasgoo.com) China's Great Wall Motor is planning to cooperate with Philippine National Motor to set up a production base in Philippines and put the base into operation by the end of this year, media reported Friday.
Philippine National Motor, a Great Wall dealer in Philippines, used to sell the Chinese automaker's SUVs and pickups in the local market for a long time.
