Dongfeng-PSA JV to build third plant in Wuhan
Shanghai July 12 (Gasgoo.com) A reporter learned from Dongfeng Motor Corp that it has reached an agreement with PSA on the construction of a third plant for Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. (DPCA). The plant will introduce more new models and is to be located in Wuhan.
DPCA is PSA's biggest joint venture for sedans in China, the production lines of its two models: Peugeot and Citroen cover the economic, middle and high-end markets.

Chery Auto H1 sales up 46% to 308,933 vehicles
Shanghai, July 12 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese carmaker Chery Auto said last week that its sales in the first half of the year increased 46.25% from a year earlier to a record 308,933 vehicles, continuing to lead the sales by Chinese-brand automakers, media reported.
In the first six months, Chery kept a robust overseas sales growth, with its exports surging 154.3% year on year to 38,107 vehicles, glowing faster than the company's domestic sales. In June alone, its vehicle exports grew 106% to 8,053 units.
China H1 auto exports up 70.53% to 242,800 units
Shanghai, July 13 (Gasgoo.com) Despite a slow growth in the past three months, the overall growth momentum has been maintained in China's auto market. Chinese automakers exported 242,800 vehicles in the first half of 2010, up 70.53% from a year earlier.
And at the end of June, the automakers reported 504,700 vehicles in inventory, 82,300 units less than the figure at the end of 2009, according to data released by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.
Mercedes China H1 sales up 122% to 59,600 units
Shanghai, July 13 (Gasgoo.com) German automaker Daimler AG reported sales of 59,600 units, a 122% year-on-year increase, of Mercedes-Benz, AMG, Smart and Maybach vehicles in the Chinese auto market for the first half of this year, media reported today.
In June, Mercedes-Benz sales in China (including Hong Kong) surged 164% from a year earlier to 13,500 units, creating another monthly sales record. The all-new E-Class sedan also posted strong sales last month, with the sales accounting for one third of the total Mercedes-Benz sales, making it the best-selling model in the country.
Four Chinese car companies make '10 "Fortune 500" list
Shanghai July 14 (Gasgoo.com) On the recently released 2010 "Fortune 500"list, there are four Chinese car companies: Dongfeng Motor, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), FAW Group and China Chang'an Automobile Group Co., Ltd, (CHANA).
Dongfeng Motor, SAIC and FAW Group rank 182nd, 223rd and 258th respectively on the list of global 500 largest companies. While CHANA, relying on its parent company: China South Industries Group Corporation (CSGC), was also selected and ranked 275th.
Lamborghini brings 8 new models to China
Shanghai July 14 (Gasgoo.com) As renowned sports car makers, Lamborghini and Ferrari are competing fiercely for the Chinese market share. Not to be outdone by Ferrari, Lamborghini introduced 8 new super sports cars to the Chinese market on the just concluded "Lamborghini Brand Day".

Brilliance, Mercedes establish partnership
Shanghai, July 15 (Gasgoo.com) One of Mercedes-Benz's Chinese assembly plants signed an agreement today with Brilliance Auto, BMW's China partner, for cooperation on the Mercedes-Benz Specialist Vehicles, media reported.
Brilliance Auto has been preparing for the cooperation plan since last year and Mercedes-Benz, a luxury car subsidiary of Daimler AG, has also authorized the cooperation earlier.
Geely Group plans to sell 2 mln cars annually by 2015
Shanghai, July 15 (Gasgoo.com) Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd. plans to sell two million cars annually worldwide by 2015, a spokesman of the private Chinese carmaker said today at an auto fair, Xinhua News reported.
"Geely hopes to roll out more new car models faster and more efficiently," Victor Young, PR Director of Geely Group, said at the opening auto exhibition in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin province. The company has reorganized its R&D teams to help design more than 40 car models annually before 2015, he added.
Daimler, Foton sign truck-making JV deal in Beijing
Shanghai July 16 (Gasgoo.com) Europe's biggest truck-maker Daimler AG and China's largest commercial vehicle producer Beiqi Foton Motor signed a final agreement today in Beijing to set up a 50:50 joint venture for making medium- and heavy-duty trucks, media reported.
Today, the joint venture contract was signed in the presence of the Premier of the People's Republic of China Wen Jiabao and visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The approval for the deal was granted by the Chinese government's top economic planning body.
Own brands to take over 50% China's auto market share
Shanghai, July 16 (Gasgoo.com) China's homegrown carmakers are on the way to dominate the auto world in China, with its market share reaching over 40% in the passenger car market last year, and the figure is expected to exceed more than 50% this year, media reported yesterday.
China's first "automotive technology and self-developed vehicle products exhibition" was kicked off on July 15 by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, China's Commerce Department, China-Europe Association For Technical & Economic Cooperation and China Automobile Dealers Association. The theme for this week-long State-level exhibition is "Dream, Self-Improvement and Going Beyond."
