Beijing Auto says to sell 1.5 mln cars next year, 2 mln by '12
Shanghai, October 16 (Gasgoo.com)Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. is looking to sell 1.5 million vehicles next year with sales revenue hitting 150 billion yuan (US$22 bn), the company's president said on Thursday.
"The sales targets for 2011 is much higher at 2 million vehicles and 240 billion in sales revenue," said Xu Heyi at a media conference to mark the seventh year of founding of Beijing Auto's joint venture with Hyundai Motor Co.

China top 10 carmakers to set EV industry standard
Shanghai, October 16 (Gasgoo.com) As the electric vehicle (EV) is becoming the auto industry's future trend for energy efficiency and environmental protection, the top 10 carmakers in China have decided to jointly lay out the EV industry standards, media reported.
Earlier this week, the 10 auto companies signed the program of action for China's EV industry development. They include SAIC Motor, FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor Group, Changan Auto, Guangzhou Auto, Beijing Auto, Sinotruk Group, Brilliance Auto, Chery Auto, and Jianghuai Auto.
BYD Sept car sales up 88 pct on year
Shanghai, October 15 (Gasgoo.com) China's battery and car maker BYD Co said on Wednesday it sold a record of 44,000 vehicles in September, up 88 percent from a year earlier.
This brought BYD's total sales for the first nine months of 2009 to nearly 300,000 units, the company said in a statement.
Chinese-run firm unveils new cars to build in Miss.
Shanghai, October 14 (Gasgoo.com) A startup car company run in the U.S. by a Chinese businessman recently unveiled four prototype vehicles that it hopes to build at a proposed multibillion-dollar plant in northwestern Mississippi, the Associated Press reported.
GreenTech Automotive Inc. planned to break ground on a $6.5 billion plant on 1,500 acres in Tunica County, south of Memphis, Tenn. The company's owner, Xiaolin "Charles" Wang, said the plant would eventually employ 4,500 people and produce up to 250,000 fuel-efficient cars a year.
China Sept passenger-car sales up 84% to over 1 mln
Shanghai, October 13 (Gasgoo.com) China's passenger vehicle sales surged 84% year-on-year in September to more than one million units as government stimulus measures and an economic rebound spurred demand, media reported today, citing a Chinese auto industry association.
Sales of sedans, sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) and multipurpose vehicles (MPVs) climbed to 1.015 million units, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said in an emailed statement today, according to Bloomberg. A year earlier, sales fell 1.4% on the Beijing Olympics and the global recession.
Bugatti opens its first showroom outside France in Beijing
Shanghai, October 13 (Gasgoo.com) Luxury automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobile SAS has recently opened its first-ever showroom room outside France in Jinbao street of Beijing, in a bid to meet the growing demand from Chinese customers.

VW '09 China sales growth may exceed 30%
Volkswagen AG expects its sales volume in China's mainland and Hong Kong to grow by more than 30% this year, bucking a trend of weak sales in developed markets amid the global financial crisis, the company said Monday.
Strong sales mean that Volkswagen may reach its goal of selling 2 million vehicles annually in China by 2018 "earlier than planned," the company said in a statement, without giving a new timeline.
Chery Sept sales up 110% to record 51,453 cars
Shanghai, October 12 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto saw its vehicle sales in September increase 110% year on year to a monthly record high at 51,453 units, leading in the month's sales of Chinese-brand car makers, sina.com said today.
Earlier this year, Chery Auto began to reverse its sales slump and in recent few months has gained rapid growth. The company's sales from January to September totaled 337,600 units, achieving 80.6% of its full-year sales target for 2009.
