Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. (GAIG) and Fiat confirmed Wednesday that General Manager of GAIG Zeng Qinghong, will take charge of the board while Chairman of Fiat (China), Meng Peixuan, will be appointed as Zeng's deputy.
After a year since the joint venture was established, GAIG-Fiat's board as well as senior managers finally got settled. The recent news sweeps out all the gloom brought by a series of rumors on the JV.
Vice President of Fiat (China) Global Purchasing Center, Zheng Xiancong, was designated as the general manager of the JV, and Deputy General Manager of GAIG, Jiang Ping, was appointed as the executive deputy manager. The chief delegate Paolo Arpellino, highly supported to be the JV's general manager, has left China to take over as CFO of Fiat Powertrain technologies.
GAIG and Fiat co-founded the GAIG-Fiat in July, 2009. The firm is based in Changsha, Hunan Province. The joint venture was planned to be put into operation in 2011, forming an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles by 2014. Meng once said the joint venture would be able to manufacture any model of Fiat, including Ferrari, as long as there's need.
