Shanghai, August 5 (Gasgoo.com) Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co Ltd, a major Chinese bus maker based in southeast China's Fujian province, exported 2,552 light buses in the first half of this year, up 881.54% from a year earlier, media reported.

Of which, exports of King Long's light buses to South Africa reached 1,320 units, worth $11.9 million. The company has so far exported nearly 3,000 light buses to the country for public use, inlcuding the 1,500 units exported in the past two years.

"The substantial increase in South Africa's exports is in part benefiting from the rising demand in the local market thanks to the World Cup 2010, and partly attributed by the company's great efforts in improving its product quality, overseas sales network and brand influence", said Xie Weiguo, general manager of the company's overseas sales department.

Moreover, Xie added that King Long's exort volume is expected to break 3,500 units by the end of this year, to grab around 20% market share. That is to say, if China exports ten light buses, two of them would be from King Long.

King Long is now second in export rankings in the industry, far ahead of other demestic enterprises in the country, with products not only exported to South Africa, but also to South America, Southeast Asia, North America, etc..
