Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 3) - The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has agreed to set up testing sites for methanol fuel in the Shaanxi cities of Xi'an, Baoji, Xianyang, Yulin and Hanzhong, Caijing reported today.

After gaining approval from the State Council, the MIIT began testing of ethanol fuel stations in Shanxi province and the city of Shanghai last year. The provinces of Shanxi and Shaanxi, as well as Shanghai, have already begun preliminary work for methanol fuel testing.

Not only can methanol fuel be used for vehicles designed to intake pure methanol and methanol-gasoline compounds, it can also be used to power originally gasoline-powered vehicles that have been redesigned to intake methanol. It is used in over 70 countries worldwide, with some countries having gone as far to make it a major fuel type.
