Shanghai July 27 (Gasgoo.com) Mitsubishi Motors is planning to introduce its new minicar, which has been launched worldwide, to the Chinese market and there is a great possibility that Mitsubishi may produce it in China, media reported.

It is reported that Mitsubishi attaches great importance to the competitive minicar and compact car segments in the Chinese market. Even though the new minicar model hasn't been named yet, it is to be equipped with 1.0L or 1.2 L engines.

The new minicar is expected to be smaller than Mitsubishi's Colt model, which means that the future Mitsubishi's global minicar will compete against Chevrolet's new Sail, Suzuki's new Alto, Geely's Panda, Changing's Mini and Chery's Riich models.

Osamu Masuko, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors, said in an interview that the new minicar will be priced at 70,000 yuan ($10,448). Mitsubishi aims to achieve an annually sales of more than 400,000 units globally.

To achieve further success in China, Mitsubishi hopes to build a manufacturing plant in China and sets up a 50:50 joint venture with a local Chinese partner.
