Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 29) - Despite the withdrawal of government subsidies and shortages in the domestic electric battery market, FAW Toyota's third-generation Prius is still scheduled to be manufactured in China on schedule, the Beijing News reported today. According to sources from within the joint venture, the hybrid version of the Prius will hit the market next year, with the chance that it might carry a lower than expected price tag. There are still no plans to domestically manufacture the plug-in electric style Prius, however.
Aug. 30 , 2011Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 23) - Having been on the market for more than half a year, sales of GAC Motor's own brand sedan, the Trumpchi, have been less than stellar. Around 10,000 Trumpchis have been sold since the beginning of the year to July, Beijing Business Today reported today. Meanwhile, GAC General Manager Wu Song said that the manufacturer has revised its annual sales goal for the Trumpchi from 30,000 to 20,000.
