Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 31) - The Hyundai Motor Group sold a total of 1.33 million vehicles in China last year, representing year-on-year growth of 14.2 percent, auto.qq.com reported today. The manufacturer sold 856,000 Hyundais and 480,000 Kias in the country over the course of the year. The sales figures make Hyundai the third most successful foreign manufacturer in China last year, behind VW and GM, which sold 2.6 million vehicles and 1.44 million vehicles, respectively.

China is now Hyundai's largest market, making up nearly 20 percent of its global sales portfolio. By comparison, Hyundai sold 1.26 million vehicles in the US and 1.15 million vehicles in its native South Korea last year.

Looking to 2013, Hyundai hopes to build on the ten percent sales growth it achieved in China last year. The manufacturer's two joint ventures, Beijing Hyundai and Dongfeng Yueda Kia, have set 2013 sales targets of 970,000 vehicles and 500,000 vehicles, respectively.
