Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co. will explore further cooperation with General Motors Co.'s Saab Automobile unit, Wang Dazong, president of the Chinese auto maker, said Friday.
Possible areas of cooperation including new energy cars and parts purchasing, he told reporters at a briefing. In addition, Beijing Auto may help distribute Saab brand cars in China, Wang said.
Earlier this month, Beijing Auto reached an agreement to buy certain assets from the Swedish car maker, including intellectual property rights for two sedans and equipment to produce those cars.
Beijing Auto and Saab will share the Saab 9-3 compact car platform, Wang said.
