Shanghai September 9 (Gasgoo.com) China's largest home-grown carmaker Chery Automobile Co. saw its overseas sales surge 238% in August from the same month last year to 10,360 vehicles, according to data released by the company.
Chery's August domestic sales jumped 46% month and month and 42% year on year to 56,933 units, much better than the corresponding industry average of 18.5% and 7.6%.
Chery has been devoted to enhancing its R&D capability to improve its product quality and brand influence, and after years of efforts, along with large amount of investment, it has mastered certain energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies, also making itself a leading domestic automaker, especially in the small car segment.
Last month, China approved 61 models made by 12 Chinese automakers and joint ventures to receive fuel-efficiency subsidies of 3,000 yuan ($441) per vehicle, among which 17 models made by Chery were listed in the catalogue, following the first catalogue that contains 11 models made by the Anhui-based automaker.
All of Chery's small cars with 1.6L and below displacement should be qualified for the subsidies as the government issues the third batch of fuel-efficient cars, according to sources.
