Gasgoo From Xinhua

The third batch of energy-efficient autos to enjoy government subsidy was revealed Monday in a catalogue on the website of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), jointly issued by the NDRC, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Ministry of Finance.

The catalogue listed over 70 vehicle models from 17 enterprises, including Beijing Hyundai, Brilliance Motor, BYD Auto, ChangAn Ford, Chongqing ChangAn, Dongfeng Motor, Hefei Changhe, Great Wall Auto, Jiangxi Changhe Suzuki, Chery Auto, Shanghai VW, Shanghai Maple, SAIC Motor, Shanghai GM, Tianjin FAW, Jilin FAW, and Zhejiang Geely.

Specifically, 46 models are domestically produced, representing 62 percent of the total. And the proportion in the first and second batch of subsidized energy-efficient autos is 36.6 percent and 38 percent, respectively.

Furthermore, 13 models in the third batch come from Great Wall Auto, making the enterprise biggest winner this time.

Chery Auto added 9 more models, thus almost all its vehicle models are currently granted to enjoy government subsidy.

BYD got 8 models selected in the new catalogue, including F3 and G3.

To date, a total of 206 models have been named in the three batches, covering almost all the vehicle types with a displacement less than 1.6 liters.

Previously on June 1, 2010, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, MIIT and NDRC jointly issued a supportive policy to promote energy-saving cars, deciding to grant a one-off 3,000 yuan subsidy for purchase of every gasoline or diesel fueled passenger vehicle that has a displacement of less than 1.6 liters and whose general fuel consumption is about 20 percent lower than the existing standard.

On June 30, China fixed the first batch of energy-efficient vehicle models, including 71 energy-efficient vehicle models from 16 automakers. The auto models listed in the catalogue have obtained the China Compulsory Certification (3C certification) and save about 20% fuel compared with the present standard.

On August 17, the second batch of energy-efficient autos was revealed on the NDRC website, listing a total of 61 vehicle models from 12 enterprises such as Beiqi Foton (600166.SH), Chery Auto, and ChangAn Ford.
