Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 10) - China exported 72,100 vehicles in the month of May, stcn.com reported today. The figure, which has beaten the March 2008 volume to become a new monthly record for the country, comes from statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) earlier this week. The amount was 6.8 percent higher than last month and a staggering 53 higher than last year.
The country's largest automobile exporter Chery led the way, selling 14,111 cars overseas and growing 75 percent from last year. The manufacturer exported a total of 55,200 vehicles since the start of the year, followed by Changan, JAC, Great Wall and Dongfeng, which exported 35,100, 28,100, 26,800 and 24,600 vehicles respectively.
According to the CAAM, the record result was due to the upturn in the global economy.
