Chinese favor personalized imported cars

Shanghai, August 2 (Gasgoo.com) Despite a slow growth in the past four months, imported cars had been doing pretty well in the Chinese auto market, with sales in May increasing by 114.5% from a year earlier, media reported.

Among the imported cars, those with less than 3.0L displacement were the main force of the sales growth. Moreover, the reporters have learned from the country's dealerships that sales of the imported cars all grew better than last year, such as the Lexus RX SUV series, the new Kia Sorento, the Mercedes-Benz ML, the BMW X5 SUV and other imported SUVs.

China is now a big automobile consuming country in the world. In view of development of the current domestic economy, its demand for imported cars should be great, a person from China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATRC) said.

Reportedly, at present, Infiniti has set up its business unit in China, and Subaru China sales have beaten 100,000 units. Meanwhile, China's Changchun city is expected to open a 4S store to sell Porsche, Infiniti, Audi, Mercedes and other imports brands.

In addition to the SUV model, many personalized imported cars have become a new bright spot in the consumer market, with the Jaguar XJ, the Volvo C30, Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Beetle and Scirocco getting most of the attention.

Individual needs have made imported car dealers well aware of the huge consumption power of the Chinese market. Volkswagen, which has been operating its business in China for years, has so far launched a slew of personalized models, including the Touareg limited edition, the new Beetle Mexican version, the Scirocco 2.0TSI, the EOS Moonlight, ect..

With the abundant product line-up and products tailed to the individual needs, the German automaker has achieved considerable success in the Chinese market.
