Embodied AI Job Postings Surge 6 to 7 Times, Talent War Heats Up, but Salaries Still Lag Behind Large Models

Edited by Betty From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich- The embodied AI sector is heating up, and the race for talent is accelerating in tandem.

Gasgoo Embodied Intelligence has learned that Lin Fan, founder and CEO of Maimai, recently stated on the "AI Roundtable" program that new embodied AI job postings in China surged 6 to 7 times year-on-year between January and July 2026. Yet, the supply of relevant talent grew only 3 to 4 times during the same period—a pace that clearly lags behind corporate hiring demand.

Notably, this rapid expansion hasn't translated directly into higher paychecks. Lin Fan revealed that the average salary for embodied AI roles is currently only about two-thirds that of large language model positions. This suggests that unlike the previous scramble for core algorithm talent in the LLM sector—fueled by sky-high salaries—the embodied AI industry is undergoing a "massive scale-up." Companies are releasing concentrated demand for talent with engineering, productization, and industrial experience.

This trend had already begun to surface. Maimai’s 2026 Spring Recruitment Report shows that from January to April this year, the embodied AI hiring index jumped 15 times year-on-year. The average monthly salary climbed from roughly 58,700 yuan to 61,600 yuan. During the same period, large language model algorithm roles remained the most sought-after, with AI scientists and leads commanding average monthly salaries exceeding 130,000 yuan.

In terms of talent sourcing, the boundaries for embodied AI hiring are widening rapidly. Lin Fan noted that current talent mainly comes from five streams: native embodied AI research, traditional internet, large language models, autonomous driving and automotive, and smart hardware. The influx of talent from autonomous driving and automotive sectors is particularly significant, reflecting the industry's shift from pure algorithm research toward hardware-software integration and real-world deployment.

However, the surge in job openings doesn't mean the talent market has fully entered a "high-pay war." As robotics companies enter cycles of mass production, delivery, and commercial verification, they need more than just a handful of elite researchers. Mechanical engineers, electronic control specialists, perception experts, algorithm developers, systems engineers, and even supply chain professionals are now in demand. Amid this rapid expansion in headcount, the stratification of talent value in embodied AI may only just be beginning.
