Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 27, Chinese commercial vehicle maker Foton Motor celebrated the completion of its Thailand factory. At the event, the automaker saw an all-electric heavy-duty truck roll off the production line at the Thai facility, which represents the 1 millionth vehicle produced for Foton Motor's overseas business (including export and local production outside of China).

The Thailand factory is operated by CP FOTON, a joint venture established by Foton Motor and CP Group in 2019. The venture aims to position Foton Motor among the top three commercial vehicle brands in Thailand and serve as a manufacturing hub for the ASEAN region.

Spanning approximately 37,000 square meters, the facility produces a wide range of commercial vehicles, including medium- and heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, small trucks, and buses. Foton Motor is of the few Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturers to establish a truck plant in Thailand.
Aligned with Thailand's environmental goals and the shift toward vehicle electrification, Foton Motor plans to introduce a full lineup of new energy commercial vehicles to the facility, providing cleaner and more sustainable solutions for Thailand and neighboring markets.
Foton Motor has already developed a robust industrial cluster in Thailand and aims to further expand into Indonesia, Vietnam, and other Asia-Pacific markets. Globally, its localization strategy includes ongoing projects such as the Brazil manufacturing initiative, which is set to commence production in 2025.
