Geely, Autoliv deepen safety technology alliance with new joint innovation lab
A new joint innovation laboratory established by China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. ("CAERI"), Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, and Autoliv Inc. was officially unveiled in Ningbo on May 15, marking a significant expansion of the long-running partnership between Geely and the global automotive safety supplier.
The agreement represents an upgraded phase of strategic cooperation, with the three parties aiming to strengthen collaborative research and accelerate the integration of advanced vehicle safety technologies through a shared innovation platform.Since establishing their partnership in 2002, Geely and Autoliv have worked together across occupant protection, intelligent driving systems, and in-cabin comfort and health technologies, positioning vehicle safety as a central focus of their collaboration.
During the first phase of cooperation, the two companies jointly developed more than ten key technologies, leading to several industry-first applications as well as multiple safety features introduced for the first time on Geely vehicles.
Stellantis, Dongfeng deepen China partnership with new EV production plans
On May 15, Stellantis N.V. and Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. signed a new strategic cooperation agreement aimed at broadening their 34-year partnership in China. Under the deal, the two companies will jointly manufacture Peugeot and Jeep-branded vehicles in China for both domestic and overseas markets.
Alongside the production agreement, the automakers also signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding designed to deepen collaboration across manufacturing scale, engineering capabilities, and research and development resources.
The agreement additionally covers the production of two new energy off-road models under the Jeep brand at the Wuhan plant beginning in 2027. These vehicles are intended for global distribution, signaling Stellantis' continued push to position China as an export hub for electrified vehicle programs.
Backed by supportive automotive industry policies from Hubei Province and the Wuhan municipal government, the project will involve total investment exceeding 8 billion yuan (approximately 1 billion euros). Stellantis is expected to contribute roughly 130 million euros to the initiative.
Cao Cao Mobility Strikes Strategic Partnership with Shanghai International Automotive City
Cao Cao Mobility struck a strategic partnership with Shanghai International Automotive City (Group) Co., Ltd. on May 14.
According to Cao Cao Mobility, it plans to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary within the core zone of Shanghai International Automotive City to underpin its push into Robotaxi commercialization. By 2026, the company aims to deploy 100 Robotaxis in the region.
