BYD Semiconductor Ships Over 100 Million BMS AFE Chips

BYD Semiconductor has hit a major milestone, with cumulative shipments of its BMS AFE chips surpassing 100 million units.

The AFE (Analog Front End) chip is responsible for converting analog signals—such as battery voltage, current, and temperature—into digital data. This allows the main controller to perform SOC estimation, SOH diagnosis, and charge/discharge control. Its accuracy and reliability are critical to overall BMS (Battery Management System) performance.

BYD Semiconductor's BMS AFE chips are now used by more than 20 battery pack manufacturers, automakers and energy storage system integrators, and have been deployed across hundreds of vehicle models.

According to BYD Semiconductor, the more than 100 million AFE chips shipped to date have monitored over 1.6 billion battery cells. The company also said the products have recorded no major quality incidents over more than five years of operation.

Nio supplier Seyond's Q2 LiDAR shipments surge 385%

Seyond, NIO's LiDAR supplier, nearly quintupled shipments in the second quarter, driven by rapid growth of its Robin product line aimed at a broader range of vehicle segments.

Seyond said in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that total shipments of its LiDAR products in the second quarter came in at about 271,100 units, up about 385% year-on-year and about 49% from the previous quarter.

The Robin series accounted for the bulk of the growth. Shipments surged to about 191,600 units, a surge of about 3,209% year-on-year and up about 66% from the previous quarter, accounting for about 71% of total shipments for the quarter.

Meanwhile, shipments of the flagship Falcon long-range LiDAR reached about 77,800 units, up about 55% year-on-year and about 19% quarter-on-quarter.

The company said in the filing that alongside its rapid shipment growth, the applications of its LiDAR products are quickly expanding into diverse scenarios such as robotics and physical artificial intelligence.
