Geely to unveil China's first purpose-built Robotaxi prototype at Auto China 2026

On April 21, Geely Auto Group announced that it will debut China's first purpose-built autonomous robotaxi prototype at the Auto China 2026, which opens on April 24. A deeply customized version, developed for Geely's ride-hailing platform Cao Cao Mobility, is slated for mass production in 2027, when commercial operations are expected to begin.

Unlike many current test vehicles, the prototype has been developed from the ground up rather than adapted from an existing production model. It is built on Geely's Level 4 AI-native digital architecture and integrates a World Action Model (WAM) with L4 autonomous driving capabilities. According to the company, the vehicle represents a significant leap in onboard computing power and sensor performance, while also incorporating physical AI capabilities as part of Geely's broader push into embodied intelligence.
