Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 27) - At Dongfeng Motor's New Mid-Term business Plan Press Conference held in Beijing yesterday, Renault and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced that domestic production of Renault vehicles would most probably begin by 2016, auto.qq.com reported. The conference was also attended by Dongfeng Board Chairman Xu Ping and President Zhu Fushou.
Mr. Ghosn (pictured) added that plans to manufacture Infiniti vehicles domestically were not finalized. Production is currently limited to the brand's home country of Japan. However, he said that he predicts there will be some time before the brand will be produced in China.
According to Mr. Ghosn, Nissan sold 2 million vehicles globally in 2010, 1 million of which were sold within the country. Nissan's progress in other developing markets, including India, Russia, Southeast Asia and Brazil, has been doing well.
