The lease market in the Netherlands is doing well. That is the most important conclusion that can be drawn from the annual fleet management research by Heliview. The results of the market research bureau were presented during the annual fleet management congress in Hoevelaken at the end of May.
The leasing share in the commercial car market keeps on growing. There are about 531,000 lease cars in the Netherlands at the moment. Next year that figure will be roughly 557,000. The real ‘driving force’ behind this is the small company (1 to 10 employees).
Another striking conclusion is that fleet managers do not only determine their choice with the price of the vehicle in mind. Last year, the price was the most important criteria. This year it has gone down to third place, giving preference to ‘experience from the past’ and ‘a good service’. Also, the innovative abilities of a lease company (E.g. in the area of social enterprising) increasingly play a bigger role.
Talking about socially responsible enterprising. Fleet managers are certainly not insensitive to it, but they are not prepared to pay for it. An example: 62% wants to install a particulate filter but 19% says they are not prepared to pay an extra financial contribution towards it.
